Sumner Students Achieving Beyond Expectations!

We, the stakeholders of Charles Sumner Elementary School, believe that we must consistently monitor, up-date, and incorporate innovative teaching strategies and techniques based on state guidelines.

We will strive to:

• provide Sumner students with a safe environment where all students are valued and have equal opportunities.
  
  
• maintain flexibility so that we can adjust to the various needs of our stakeholders.
  
  
• provide opportunities for academic success so that by 3rd grade, students are independent readers, effectively using resources provided by the public.
  
  
• utilize the knowledge base of the community in an effort to collaborate venues that foster open lines of communication.
  
  
• enhance and strengthen diversity among the community through meaningful exchange.
  
  
• meet the requirements of technological systems and provide stakeholders with up-to-date training and information.
  
  
• motivate, teach, train, and guide students to make every effort to reach their fullest potential in order to become productive and responsible citizens in our society.
  

Charles Sumner School recognizes the importance of the partnership between the home and the school. Parents are their children's first teachers and schools need to collaborate with parents in helping them to work with their children at home. Knowing that resources are limited, and the future of our children is a risk, we need the support of the families, the community and the state. We need to open the doors of ownership so that positive changes can take place. Communication between the home and school is a critical factor in the success of each individual child at Sumner School.


My goal is to shape children into respectful, responsible citizens and inquisitive learners. I want children to become worldly in their knowledge of the arts, literature and science. My hope is that through high quality delivery of instruction and the infusion of music, theatre and fine arts, Sumner students will achieve beyond expectations.
